Weld County Democrats Stand in Solidarity with Jeanette Vizquerra, Demand Immediate Release
GREELEY, CO –
Weld Dems stand in solidarity with Jeanette Vizquerra who was unjustly arrested March 17th and is being held by ICE pending legal challenges to her deportation. We are outraged that a local Colorado community leader was targeted and is facing removal back to Mexico.
Jeanette has lived in Colorado for almost 30 years and been a pillar to her family and to many organizations supporting labor, education and immigrant rights. In 2017, Jeanette was recognized as one of Time Magazine’s most influential people for standing up against the oppressive immigration system that has sought not only to separate her from her children, but is now attacking every immigrant who has been fighting for dignity and justice.
Courts are now in the process of determining the validity of the deportation order and potential violations of due process, yet she remains in detention. We demand her immediate release.
